India has got the greatest opportunity, and you are starting to see genuine economic optimism because of coordinated economic policy, like the IFSC GIFT City. I think that if you think about each country as a kitchen, there is no better-stocked kitchen than India for the opportunity because of the fundamental tailwinds behind it.”

Jenny Johnson

President, Chief Executive Officer

Jenny participated in the eighth edition of the Times Group Global Business Summit in New Delhi on Feb. 9 and 10. She spoke at the global CEO panel and a separate fireside chat, where she discussed topics related to artificial intelligence (AI), opportunities provided by India’s financial center GIFT City, and India’s growth.

During the summit, Jenny met with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and attended a closed-door luncheon with Finance Minister of India Nirmala Sitharaman. She interacted with other prominent Indian politicians such as Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics and Information Technology.

While in New Delhi, Jenny participated in an exclusive one-on-one interview with Sheeren Bhan, Managing Editor, CNBC TV18, for a 30-minute special feature, “Global Dialogues,” to discuss the global macro environment, key risks and opportunities and the impact of elections in India.

On February 13, Jenny hosted Franklin Templeton’s women distributors in Mumbai. The conversations ranged from the increasing number of women in finance and India’s growth story to the future of the asset management business in India and what makes the country an important market for global managers, especially for Franklin Templeton. The debates and discussions continued late into the evening, covering whether AI is a disruptor or an enabler and Bitcoin.
